GIRL!!!! That's right! We had an ultrasound at my appointment this past Wednesday, and we found out that we are expecting a sweet baby girl!!! We are so excited!!! I think Peter and I were both expecting to hear that it was a boy, so it made it even more exciting to find out it was a girl!! I had been praying before our ultrasound and weeks up to the ultrasound that the baby would be healthy and that whether Baby Ashford is a boy or a girl, it would be clear. I know that babies aren't always in a good position to tell if they are boys or girls, so I was definitely praying that God would make it clear. When we started the ultrasound, the tech asked if she saw what we were having if we wanted her to tell her. I was like YES!!! When the tech told us that we were having a girl, I shrieked and I said, "It's a girl???" She said something like "Yep, it's really obvious that she's a girl." Praise God! Apparently, there are girl parts that they can see, and she even gave us an ultrasound picture pointing to it! It was also so amazing to see our baby's face, arms, hands, body, kidneys, stomach, heart, etc. God is such an amazing Creator and seeing our baby's ultrasound makes me really reflect more on God as Our Creator and just the magnitude of it. I am so in awe! Our Baby Girl was in a really odd position, so the tech couldn't finish getting the measurements of her head. We tried to get her to move. She would think about it and start, but clearly preferred to be where she was. :) So, at my next appointment, not only will I get to have that lovely glucose test I keep hearing about :), but I'll get to have another ultrasound. I'm exciting to see how she's growing!
So after the ultrasound, I have my appointment with the doctor. Our baby girl's heart rate was around 139 and I was measuring well. Praise God!
After the appointment, Peter and I made our round of calls and then we celebrated by going to the mall to get some girl outfits and eat dinner at P.F. Changs. It was definitely an exciting evening for us! We were both so exhausted at the end of the night from all of the excitement of the day!
By the way, Peter and I do have a name picked out, but we are keeping it a secret for now. :)
