Tummy Sleeper?

Laurel has always slept on her back, but we think things are changing! Starting on Monday, Laurel would just start screaming when she was napping. We went into check, and what did we find? Laurel on her tummy screaming! We would flip her back over at first and see if that would get her back to sleep, but she would just flip back to her tummy. Laurel does know how to roll from her tummy to her back, but she doesn't do it often when she's playing and I don't think she's ever done it in her crib. I didn't know what to do at first because her naps were getting cut a lot shorter because she would wake up, realize she's on her tummy, and then just start screaming instead of trying to get herself back to sleep. I was getting a little worried at first because Laurel wasn't napping well. But after getting advice from friends, I decided to let her cry it out because she has to get used to it or learn to get herself turned back over! As the week has gone on, she hasn't screamed when she first turns onto her tummy, just screams when wakes up...however long that is into the nap. When I've peeked in to check on when she's sleeping, she's been on her tummy, so I guess she's learning!

Here's my happy girl in the morning. Don't let the smile fool you though, she was screaming before I got in there!

"Hi, Mom!"

Yes, I'm on my tummy. Will you come get me now?"

This is how Laurel has been sleeping: her arms in front of her and her head straight down on her hands! She's been having her little hand marks on her face when she wakes up! It's sooo cute! Her sleeping position looks uncomfortable to me, but it's working for her, for now.

This is what Laurel looks like as she's screaming, waiting for you to come and get her! It's soo sad looking!
