Play Date!

On Wednesday, Laurel went to another playdate! Our new friend Jana generously invited us to their home to play outside and to look at their horses! Laurel (and I) had such a good time! You'll only see one other little girl in these pictures, but there were a few more kids than that.

Jana had gotten out two little kiddie pools for the kids, so it was Laurel's first time in a pool! Although you'll see that Laurel is enjoying herself in these next pictures, it didn't start out that way! When we first got there, I changed Laurel into her bathing suit and just assumed that she was going to love it because she loves her baths so much. Well, as soon as I put her feet in the water, she would scream or cry and cling to me. My guess is that the water was a little colder than bath water, although I didn't think it was too bad. I was a little disappointed and I tried to give her a little pep talk, telling her that we had big plans to go swimming a lot this summer. :) I tried on and off again for about 30 or 40 minutes. Well, once Laurel's friend Savannah got in the water and some of the bigger kids got out, I started trying again. This time, I basically just sat her down in the pool and distracted her with toys before she even had time to think. That was all I needed to do! She LOVED it! She had such a good time! Laurel played with toys and splashed around a lot! I have to admit that I was pretty relieved that she ended up loving it. :)

Laurel and Savannah are both tough little girls, so it was cute to see them both hold their own when they were going for the same toys! :) You can see Laurel grabbing Savannah's hand.

(In the above picture, you can see my hand close to Laurel. I really had to be right by Laurel because she kept thinking she was going to crawl around in the pool. There was a little too much water for that. :) I think we might have a little swimmer on our hands! :) )

Getting to be good friends

We had a good time on Wednesday and Laurel was exhausted by the end of it! We loved this taste of summer weather and I am so excited for all the fun things to do together in the summer!
