This past week, Laurel has added a few new words to her vocabulary, so I wanted to make sure I was taking note of these new words in addition to the words she already says." Laurel has also started to repeat us. She'll sometimes repeat a word at the end of a phrase we say. And of the many words to choose from, of course, she'll decide to repeat a word like "gross" :) Also with her language development, we're constantly amazed at what she understands. I feel like we'll say something complex and she knows exactly what we mean and goes and does it. It's really neat to see Laurel's language development really take off!
Words:
dada
mama
shot (although we haven't heard it since Christmas time)
this
hot ("ha")
sock
baby ("bebe")
yes
cracker ("cack" or "cacker")
ketchup ("ketch" and sometimes she says "tup")
trash
Words we think she might say:
yuck
bear
applesauce
Phrases:
- Don't touch! (Sometimes it sounds like "don't touch" and sometimes it sounds like "dutch")
- Where is it? (Most of the time, you'll hear the inflection for where and then "is it?" with the right inflection)
- What's this?
Other:
-Makes the pretend sound for eating
(we both do it together when we're pretend we're drinking out of her tea cup)
The other day, Laurel was flipping through a book in the car about babies at bed time and saying "baby" a few times in a row. A few seconds later, she was making the eating sound. I looked back and saw that she was on the page where one baby was eating a cookie and the other baby was drinking some juice.
It's so fun to hear her say more and more. It's amazing how much change there can be in a month and a half!
