First Haircut

While we were in North Carolina over Christmas, Laurel got her first official haircut. (I say "official" because when she was a year I snipped just a little bit off some hair that was getting in her eyes.) Laurel's hair was just getting so straggly and stringy that I was really itching to just even it all out. Over Christmas, I was definitely ready for it to be cut and so we recruited Peter's sister Joy for the task. (Thanks, Joy! :) )

What is the secret to getting a 2 and a half -year old BUSY girl to remain relatively still while her hair is being cut you may ask?

Give the precious candy-loving girl some M&Ms and gummy bears, of course!

However, the joke was on me because once she figured out that we were giving her candy to occupy her during the hair cut, she started SHOVELING them in so I would have to keep refilling her plate, well napkin.

When I couldn't possibly bear to give my child any more candy, Bibi came to the rescue and started to do "Where is Thumbkin?" with Laurel (a new favorite of hers).

And the finished product...

A cute little bob for our girl. I love how her hair just flipped out!

I am just loving her hair short, except for the fact that it makes her look older! Now if I could only get her over her fear of the hair dryer, I would have so much fun styling it!
