It's Official!

Did you hear the news?

"Ok-are you ready for this?"

"We're moving to Oklahoma!"

Go Sooners!

There is definitely excitement around here! We will be moving to Oklahoma to be associate houseparents at Boys Ranch Town (part of the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children). This has something that has been on our hearts since before we were married! Peter worked at Boys Ranch Town for a year as a semester missionary when he was in college and also went back for a couple summers after that. This ministry is so near and dear to Peter's heart because of his experiences there and the work that is done there, and it's become near and dear to mine as well. Before we were married, we had talked and prayed that we would be open to the Lord's leading, whether that would be Boys Ranch Town, overseas, or anywhere else. We spent some time praying this summer about going to Boys Ranch Town and we applied for a houseparent position in August. There wasn't an opening at the time and we prayed that God would open the doors for this opportunity in His time if this were His will. After a sermon by a church planter at our church's missions conference a few weeks ago, God really put Boys Ranch Town on Peter's heart. He really started praying about what we would do if we got the call that there was an opening. We wanted to be obedient to God's call. Well we didn't have to wonder long because we got a call the next week about an opening! We knew it may not make sense to people since it's the middle of the school year and he's in the middle of finishing up his Masters degree! We also knew that we had been praying for the Lord's timing and not our own. We spent time praying and we decided to make a trip out to Boys Ranch Town that weekend. Peter definitely wanted us to go before we made a decision because I had never been there, but we also felt it would be really helpful for us to see a typical day as a houseparent and to be able to get a chance to really talk with the administrators and other houseparents. We prayed and sought godly counsel and we had our small group and family praying for us as we went on this trip that the Lord would make His will clear. Our trip really confirmed the Lord's timing and the Lord's hand in this. After our trip, we were offered a position and we accepted! We will make the move out to Oklahoma at the end of April! We've been blown away by the Lord's faithfulness and we're definitely excited for this new season in life.

How exciting! Dean and I were recalling the other day when Peter was working at the Ranch and came to visit us in TX one weekend. We are headed back to TX at the end of March. I hope we can see (and meet!) all of you sometime in the months ahead. We will be praying for your move and the transitions involved. Very excited with you!!
