On Mother's Day, we took Laurel to the zoo for the first time! We love having the Oklahoma City Zoo only 15 minutes away from us as opposed to the 2-and-a-half hour drive we would have had to the North Carolina Zoo. We definitely plan on going back a lot! We go to church on Saturday nights, so it was nice to be able to get there right after it opened. As an added bonus, mothers got in free on mother's day!
The zoo has a new children's area with a petting zoo, so we made that our first stop. There were different animals in pens to pet, but the best part for Laurel was the sheep that were running around.
Once she petted them a few times, she really got into petting them and following them around.
Coming in on a goat for a hug.
There was also a neat little slide in the kids' area that Laurel loved.
Looking at some animals with Papa
A snack break with Daddy.
Even though she's not a big fan of being confined in a stroller, Laurel did pretty well in it. She would ride for awhile and then we would get somewhere that she could walk or run around, and then she was content to climb back in and move on.
The sheep or "baaas" as Laurel calls them! One of Laurel's favorites!
We went back to the petting zoo later in the day because Laurel loved it so much! She liked seeing the other animals in their cage or behind the glass, but it just didn't keep her attention like these goats did!
Laurel and Daddy
She was getting a little too comfortable and was all over the goats giving them hugs. She even tried swing her leg over one to ride one. I can assure you that we disinfected and washed her hands A LOT! :)
