I'll go back to Christmas posts next, but I did want to post this while Laurel was still doing this! This weekend, Laurel started saying "duck" with a very strong emphasis on the "-ck" sound and in a very serious voice. I tried to think of a book or something with a duck in it. Then, I noticed that she was pointing to different "no-no's" in the house when she was saying it! She would say it and point to the fireplace, the oven, the electrical sockets, trashcans, and some other things. We figured out she was pointing to these things and saying her version of "don't touch!" We know she hears us say it a lot! We're also glad she knows that we mean it! :) "Duck" has evolved a little bit to sound more like "Don't touch." Now there's usually a "ch" sound in there at the end and a "t" sound in there sometimes.
Well, last night, we were playing in her room, and she starting doing her "duck" and she was pointing to her trashcan. I decided to get a video of her doing her serious "Don't touch." Well she did it for a few seconds and then she switched to playing one of her favorite games and then went to play with her bed. So it ended up being a little video that shows a little glimpse of our fun and busy little girl right now!
