The Babies Are....

IDENTICAL TWIN GIRLS!!!

We are so excited for the addition of these two sweet girls to our family!

We had such a great appointment today! The ultrasound tech was wonderful and described everything she was doing and the measurements she was taking. We got to watch it on a flat screen while she did the ultrasound and it was just amazing. Oh how fearfully and wonderfully made they are! Thank you Lord! Oh how I just loved seeing their little hands and feet and I just can't wait to kiss them! The ultrasound tech was able to see the genders and we saw that they were girls!! We were pretty surprised! I was totally thinking that they were boys, but what a fun surprise! The girls were measuring well with one measuring 16 weeks, 1 day and the other measuring 16 weeks 2 day. They both weighed 6 ounces! Praise God!

After the ultrasound, we received a wonderful report from the high risk specialist and are hearts are so full! I was starting to get a little nervous because he said something like, "Ok, how do I start?" He said that first of all, they looked great and looked really healthy from what he could see. They both weighed the same (6 ounces) and they were measuring great. He told us that they are identical twins and they are monochorionic, diamniotic twins. That means that they have two separate sacs, but they share a placenta. He said that it puts us in more of a moderate risk category for twins because they share a placenta. (A little lower "risk" would be two separate sacs and two separate placentas and a higher risk would be one sac and one placenta). He said that they looked great, but their growth would need to be monitored a little more frequently. We are just beyond thankful to the Lord for these healthy girls and their healthy big sister! We are humbled by what God has chosen for our family and our hearts are so full! Please join us in praying for the continued health, growth, and development of these two girls and for a healthy and safe rest of the pregnancy and delivery.

And without further ado, some pictures of our two youngest little girls:
